A form of a teenage girl slips out of a side door. She sprints across the yard and slips into the paddock. She slowly walks up to a young, maybe 21/2 almost 3 year old, red dun colt lying on the ground and starts crooning in his ear and stroking his mane. As she slips onto his back he snorts, she reaches out and strokes his neck, he relaxes. Slowly and quietly she asks him to stand, he looks at her with trust in his eyes and slowly rises. Her arms wrap around his neck and she quietly starts murmuring into his ear. He cocks a back hoof, blows, and relaxes throughout his whole body. They stand like that for a few minutes; and then the girl heres her name called. Quickly she glances up and gracefully dismounts. Under her breath she murmurs an apology to the red dun, then she slips out of the paddock and races up the hill into the house to perform the task she was called upon to do.
Okay so as you probably guessed the red dun was Red and the teenaged girl was me. Yes, it is a true story... If you don't believe me ask my mom. What this story symbolizes, to me at least, is that we need need to be like the horse, trusting, and God is like the teen. When we tense up and get "untrusting" God murmurs in our ear and strokes our neck and tells us everything will be OK. But we need to be how Red was and trust him.
